Kairaclo gears up for President Jawara’s centenary anniversary 

To celebrate the legacy of the late former President of the Gambia, the Kairaba Conservation and Leadership Organisation (KairaCLO) updated the media on activities related to Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara’s Centenary Anniversary at the WASCAL conference hall, University of The Gambia, on Tuesday, 23rd April.

Part of their activities is to hold a symposium on Wednesday at Ocean Bay Hotel, Bakau, under the theme ‘Waste Management and Transformation, Opportunities in the Gambia’ to commemorate Sir Dawda’s birth as part of the centenary Anniversary.

The Symposium will be a key part of the activities to celebrate the centenary anniversary of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, the First President & father of our nation.

“His Visionary Message contained in the Banjul Declaration delivered 47 years ago, inspires the theme of this symposium: What are the lessons the Gambia, Africa and indeed the world could have learnt from the message contained in the Declaration had the warning been heeded to? How do we harness and manage waste to not only develop a circular economy, but to work towards a cleaner environment in our societies:

Mr Almami F. Taal, Chairman of the body, told journalists at the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, University of The Gambia yesterday, that: “It is a small effort on our part; a national effort towards upholding the vision, ideals of Sir Dawda in conserving our flora and fauna, as outlined in the Banjul Declaration.”

“It is a sobering reflection that in a relatively short period of our history most of our larger wildlife species have disappeared … Thus I solemnly declare that my Government pledges its untiring efforts to conserve for now and posterity as wide a spectrum as possible of our remaining fauna and flora. Sir Dawda Jawara President of Gambia,” an excerpt if the declaration by Mr Jawara in 1977, stated.

KairaCLO Plants Trees To Honor The Legacy Of Former President, Sir Dawda Jawara 

The Kairaba Conservation and Leadership Organization (KairaCLO) marked Sir Dawda Jawara’s Centenary Celebration with a tree-planting exercise at The National Assembly and the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in The Gambia on Thursday May 16th, 2024.

During a moving ceremony, officials planted trees to honor and remember his significant contributions to the country.

Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow, together with Honorable Speaker Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Bishop of Banjul Gabriel Mendy, the Police Commissioner of Banjul representing the IGP, and Hon. Madi MK Ceesay, planted five trees in a collaborative effort.
